Human Resource departments across the globe had a difficult job when COVID-19 hit. HR practitioners had to be agile and pivot as needed and make decisions with no prerequisites. Meaning, nothing like this has ever happened before. There were and still are many questions that have to be answered.
Human Resources is developing, adapting and or improving work-from-home plans or remote work policies, procedures and processes. As, I mentioned earlier, there’s no prerequisite on what to do and how to do it. In order for HR to implement processes, etc., they have to be collaborating with other business partners. Such as IT, finance and others to develop and implement new policies to address work-from-home or remote plans.
Now keep in mind, while all of these things are going on. HR is still responsible for ensuring employee morale is high. High morale can be described as a positive attitude and high satisfaction levels towards work, coupled with the willingness to freely give one’s best in the workplace. High morale results in confidence in one’s work and the ability to weather minor setbacks on the job. (Ainomugisha, Gerald, 2021)
